Urdu Only For Pakitan Players

Inzamam-ul-Haq
Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq: Ready for questions in Urd
The Pakistan cricket team have been banned from speaking in English at World Cup news conferences to prevent players from being misquoted.

The players will speak only in Urdu, said former player Pervez Mir, the team's press liaison officer.

The decision was also taken "because 2007 is our national tourist year and we are promoting Pakistan as well," said Mir in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

"This is the perfect platform to promote and expose our language."

He added that a Pakistan player had been misquoted in Trinidad following the gas leak that led to the team being evacuated from their hotel earlier in the week.

"A journalist spoke to Danish Kaneria and asked him what he thought about the gas leak and he tried to play the incident down and said 'It happens'.

"But when the report came out the journalist quoted him
saying 'It happens at home as well'.

"So we would rather avoid these kinds of incidents and speak in Urdu at official times."

The team's coach, Englishman Bob Woolmer, is not a recognised Urdu speaker, and will presumably not be bound by the rules.

Pakistan play West Indies in the World Cup opener at Sabina
Park, Jamaica on Tuesday in Group D.

Ireland and Zimbabwe complete the group.

Salman Butt, Asif appeal to serve jail sentences in Pakistan

11 13 2011 87417 1 Salman Butt, Asif appeal to serve jail sentences in Pakistan
LONDON: Two Pakistani cricketers convicted of fixing and awarded jail terms by a UK court have asked to be returned to Pakistan, to serve the remainder of their sentence, Britain’s The Independent reported.
The former Test captain Salman Butt and the fast bowler Mohammad Asif have told their lawyers that they would prefer to be sent to a jail in Pakistan, because the attention they are receiving from fellow inmates is leading to fears for their safety. A High Court application is expected to be made within the next eight weeks, the paper noted.
The former international cricketers made the request to return to Pakistan after they were transferred this week from Wandsworth Prison in south London to Canterbury Prison in Kent, which specialises in holding foreign nationals convicted in Britain. Most inmates held at the category C prison are deported at the end of their sentences. Butt and Asif have told lawyers and close associates that they would prefer to be in a Pakistani jail.
The report said: “The influential British Pakistani businessman Dalawar Chaudhry visited Asif this week. He said that the former pace bowler and Butt were sharing a cell and were reluctant to leave it, because of the undue attention they are receiving from fellow inmates”.
Asif was jailed for one year and Butt for two-and-a-half years, for their involvement in a spot-fixing scandal in which they agreed to bowl pre-arranged no-balls in return for money during the Lord’s Test against England in the summer of 2010.

Poulsen calls 22 for World Cup qualifier

Tanzania national soccer team coach Jan Poulsen
Tanzania national soccer team coach Jan Poulsen yesterday selected a provisional squad of 22 players for an ad hoc camping ahead of the 2014 World Cup preliminary qualifier game against Chad in ten days time.

The first leg match will be played in Djamena on November 11 as Azam’s youngest goalkeeper Mwadini Ali has won the call to join the team.
TP Mazembe’s duo of Thomas Ulimwengu and Mbwana Samata has also won the Stars’ call.
The full line up of players called by the Danish coach and their respective clubs in bracket include Simba’s first choice goalkeeper Juma Kaseja, Juma Nyoso, Juma Jabu and Shomari Kapombe.
Azam players in Poulsen’s line-up besides Mwadini include Aggrey Morris, Erasto Nyoni, Ramadhan Chombo and Mrisho Ngassa.
While Nurdin Bakari, Nadir Haroub and Godfrey Taita are Yanga trio in the team, Mtibwa Sugar has their duo Shabani Nditi and Hussein Javu.
Foreign based professionals and their respective teams in bracket are Idrissa Rajab (Sofapaka, Kenya), Abdi Kassim (DT Long An, Vietnam), Nizar Khalfan (Vancouver Whitecaps, Henry Joseph (Kongsvinger IL, Norway), Dan Mrwanda (DT Long An, Vietnam) and Athuman Machupa (Vasalund IF, Sweden).
Simba’s Kapombe makes his debut appearance for the Stars training thanks to his coach Moses Basena who has regularly fielded him during the premiership fixtures.
Juma Jabu is also making a comeback after long spells to fill the positions usually occupied by Yanga’s Stephano Mwasika and Simba’s Amir Maftah who are troubled with injuries.
The above named players are supposed to join the camp on Thursday, six days ahead of boarding a flight to Djamena.
The teams will play their second decisive leg in Dar es Salaam on November 15 in Dar es Salaam.

Stars have been bundled out of the African Nations Cup qualifiers whose finals will be played in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea early next year.
The Tanzania team has never played in the World Cup finals and this time they have an arduous task to qualify as they have Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire and Gambia to sail through, should they cross over the Chad hurdle next month.
Coach Poulsen needs a careful approach to mould a winning outfit for the soccer fans to extend more tolerance and support after Nations Cup qualifier bid fault.

FC BARCELONA "SPIES" ON GARETH BALE

SPANISH SPORTS daily "AS" has published that FC BARCELONA Coach Guardiola sent over to London a "confidant" to watch TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS & Welsh International GARETH BALE do his stuff down the left flank in his last Premier League game.

Gareth Bale
Gareth Bale

Barça Coach Guardiola likes the ways of Bale & sees the 22 year old as a possible substitute for Frenchmen Eric Abidal who is currently negotiating to renew his contract. Negotiations that are taking longer than expected & has opened a window of uncertainty that Barça wish to cover with a Plan B.

The Spanish paper even goes as far as to speculate (has no real evidence) that Barça would be willing to pay Tottenham around 40M€ for their player. Said all this, Barcelona also has Valencia CF & Spanish International JORDI ALBA up their sleeve in case the "English option" falls through & cannot be made.

As you can see SPANISH FOOTBALL & Clubs are busy working all year round. Stay tuned for developments!

ENGLAND 1 SPAIN 0 | INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY RESULT

ENGLAND hosted the current FIFA World Champions SPAIN at Wembley for an International Friendly with the home side winning 1 - 0. Another defeat for Spain in a Friendly that is not to much of a drama but has lessons that should be noted as there are signs that call for attention & correction.

England remembered more a traditional Italian team ( Manager Capello ) which defended more that attacked, played aggressively & took its only opportunity to score, & from a fixed situation play. In a nutshell, well done & England should be congratulated for playing the way they know & within their capacity, very smart.

Spanish Football
Frank lampard scores for England

The first half was all Spain with their habitual touch Football that looked good but could not break the English defence. We saw an insistence by Spain with attempting to go through the centre which they would continue doing so the whole match. Perhaps a more use of the wings could be a solution as the opponents begin to figure out the Spanish ways.

The the "surprise" goal came from a fixed play that found the head of Bent that hit the post & landed in the path of FRANK LAMPARD who headed into the net peacefully the ball in the 49th min.

Spanish Football
David Silva

The second half saw Spanish Coach Del Bosque make lots of changes with one, XAVI HERNANDEZ, that seems to indicate from past repetitions, that his absence breaks the equilibrium of the either team. David Silva was changed as well who was dangerous all first half for Mata.

Spanish Football
David Villa

After the English goal Spain regained the control of the ball & attempted to find the equalizer as they poured on the attacking waves, while England concentrated on defending the result. Spain made more changes bringing on Torres & Cazorla  in an attempt to find a different flavour & perhaps surprise England.

Spain kept insisting on attacking via  the middle & kept smashing into the English defence with DAVID VILLA pulling a "rabbit out of the hat" that hit the post. Towards the end Fabregas missed an opprtunity & the match ended with the English victory.

The positive news for Spain was with their goalkeepr IKER CASILLASwho has equalled the International caps record of 126 games jointly held with Zubizarreta. Iker will surely go on the surpass this mark & make history as he has still lots of years ahead as the Spanish goalkeeper.

Lastly, just an observation. Do not understand why Spanish Coach Del Bosque keeps insisting with Fernando Torres. It is clear that Torres is not in his best form & that tall Fernando LLorente "option" is on the bench, an alternative more suitable (I believe) due to his aerial power that could break these "grid-lock" situations. Said this, sitting home in Spain was Valencia CF forward Roberto Soldado who looks closer to getting his chance as Torres keeps failing to impress.

Spain now flys to Costa Rica for their next International Friendly.

REAL MADRID FOLLOWING CLOSELY YOUNG EUROPEAN TALENT

According to Spanish Sports paper ( some think Real Madrid media appendix ) "Marca", SPANISH FOOTBALL CLUB REAL MADRIDhas Football "scouts" following closly "la creme de la creme" of young Football talent at this moment. This in itself is not new, nor is it breaking news, as one can rightly imagine that every other "Tom, Dick & Harry" will have their own scouts checking out the same talent.

What maybe of note is the change in Real Madrid priorities as the Clubs strategy is now to sign young & mid priced talents ( type Ozil) instead of signing  "veterans" at astronomical prices ( eg the Galacticos). Smart idea, that needs a sharp eye on talent to make it effective.

Spain football
Eurpean U-20 talent

Five current names fit the bill: Rafinha ( FC Barcelona & brother of Thiago), Munaian (At.Bilbao), Harzard ( Lille), Wilshire (Arsenal) & Goetze (Borrusia D). At this stage Belguim youngster Eden Hazrad is sounding strong as Zinedine Zidane insists in signing the player before its "too late".

Interesting 5 names, that we will have to wait & see where that finally stay or end up. As said, Real Madrid may be keen but so are the rest of the Big European Clubs. Stay tuned!

COSTA RICA 2 SPAIN 2 | INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY

Spanish International & Real Madrid Goalkeeper IKER CASILLAS played his 127 International match for the SPANISH NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM against COSTA RICA to make him the highest "capped" player in SPANISH FOOTBALL History.

However COSTA RICA nearly "rained" on the special day for Casillas & the current World Champions drawing with  SPAIN 2 - 2 & again lifting Spanish eye-brows & some enquiring questions. Costa Rica played an excellent match & were more motived than the Spaniards who looked slow & sloppy, something unusual in the first 45 mins. The Spanish Team has become predictable & opponents can figure out what & where they need to tighten the screws to make Spain suffer for their victories. This,  & the lately acquired habit of Spain insisting in attacking via the middle makes the FIFA World Champions smash into the opponents defensive wall. But to Spain´s credit they managed to comeback with pride in the 2º half when they changed the playing style & finally used the wings.

Spanish Football
Brenes

Costa Rica did their initial damage in the 1ºst half being very aggressive, blocking the Spanish ball dominance & working their counter-attacking style. The first goal came via a Casillas mistake that allowed RANDELL BRENES to chip over for the first goal in the 30th min.

Spanish Football
Campbell

Costa Rica continued with their game plan & JOEL CAMPBELL curled a "beauty" out of reach of a stretching Casillas. The Spanish defence was not looking good at this stage.

The 2º half saw Spain change tactically & bring on right winger Navas (for Mata) , Cazorla (Xavi), Busquet (for Xabi Alonso)...pushing Iniesta to the left wing. Spanish Coach Del Bosque was looking to break the "go through the middle" habit & it seemed to work. The Spaniards increased their efficiency further when David Silva came on & the chances of goal began to appear. David Villa & Iniesta had some really close calls as Costa Rica goalie Navas began working with some important saves & then the mistake by Costa Rica Coach Pinto that changed his set up to defend: Spain then was handed the iniciative.

Spanish Football
David Villa

The goal chances began following - Ramos missed a header - & then Iniesta from his wing found DAVID SILVA who scored in the 83rd min. The equalizer came in the last moment via DAVID VILLA in the 90+ min. Spain saved by a hair.

Admirable the comeback by Spain which played a lot better in the second half & deserved their goals;  Costa Rica wrongly decided to only defend & pass the initiative to Spain when they were 2 goals ahead & finally some need for analysis of the Spanish play & attempt to rectify some bad habits before the big 2012 Euro Championships
